A dominating guard on both ends of the court, Lauren Nicholson has the complete skill set.
Beginning her career in the WNBL, Lauren debuted for the Sydney Uni Flames in 2009 as a 16-year-old. After two seasons with the Flames, Lauren made the move to the US to represent Saint Mary’s College completing the full four years.
In 2016, Lauren returned to the WNBL, re-signing with the Sydney Uni Flames and was part of the Flames 2016/17 WNBL championship.
Lauren then moved to the Adelaide Lightening in 2017 winning the WNBL Defensive Player of the Year in the 2018/19 season before signing with Townsville Fire for the 2020 season.
In 2019, Lauren represented the Australian Opals team for the 2019 FIBA Asia Cup.
During her three seasons with Townsville Lauren continued to reach new levels, being named in the All WNBL Second Team for the 2020/21 & capturing her second WNBL Championship in the 2022/23 season.
In 2023, Lauren made the move home to Sydney, signing a multi-year deal with the Flames. Her first year with the Flames was monumental, winning the 2023/24 WNBL Defensive Player of the Year award & being named in the All WNBL First Team. Following the 2023/24 WNBL season she signed with Spanish team Girona.
