Tess Madgen

One of the most determined competitors you will come across, Tess Madgen has proven herself as one of the most complete all-round guards in Australia. 

Tess began her career at the Australian Institute of Sport in 2008. After two years at the AIS, she signed with WNBL side Bendigo Spirit for the 2010/11 season where she was named the MVP for the Spirit, a title which she claimed once again in the 2011/12 season.

In 2012, Tess signed with the Melbourne Boomers. It was during her time in Melbourne that Tess expanded her game to become not only a tenacious defender but an offensive threat making the Australian Opals side for the 2013 FIBA Oceanic Championships. Following this tournament, Tess continued her impressive momentum into the WNBL season where she led the Melbourne Boomers to the WNBL Finals.

After three seasons with the Melbourne Boomers, Tess took her talents to the US to play in the WNBA with Phoenix Mercury before joining Polish side AZS UMCS Lublin for the 2016/17 season.

In 2018, Tess represented Australia at the 2018 FIBA World Championships where they won the Silver Medal.

Returning to the WNBL for the 2018/19 season, Tess signed with the Townsville Fire for 2 seasons before heading back to the Melbourne Boomers for the 2020/21 season.

In 2022, Tess led the Melbourne Boomers to become WNBL Champions in the 2021/22 season. During this season, Tess was named as the Australian Opals captain where she had here first opportunity to lead the team to Bronze Medal at the 2022 FIBA Womens World Cup in Sydney. After three seasons in Melbourne, Tess signed with the Sydney Flames for the 2023/24 WNBL season.
